Just the other week I introduced my friend Brooke as a writer for Cyberspace Babes, and now I’m going to introduce you to Cassandra. Or rather, re-introduce you, since she’s already posted. As part of my nefarious plan to make CSB into the site I first envisioned when I registered the domain lo, these many years ago, I’ve convinced these two fine women to start writing with me. (As an added bonus, it’ll spur me to write more often. Or at least, post what I do write, rather than letting things molder in my draft folder.) I’ve been wanting to consolidate my “stuff” into one place, rather than use FriendFeed or any of the other social networking sites as I’ve been doing lately. This blog was never meant to be about me, though. It was meant to be a conduit to other people of the same sexual predilections. So I’m moving. From now on, sex goes here. Me Stuff goes on my personal blog, which I’ll link to in my profile when I get around to finishing the site design.

More about Cassandra. I met her about two years ago, though it seems like less—and more, at the same time. She’s become a friend, a mentor, a confidant, and someone I’m honored to know. One of the few people I open up to, Cassandra’s always has valuable advice and insights, none of the canned responses that you come to expect from “online friends”. That’s a valuable commodity in our current, technologically-enhanced society. As I found when I first started reading her blog, and as I’m sure you’ll all see, she’s an elegant, eloquent sexual advocate in both human and sexual-orientation sexuality. I know you’ll enjoy her as much as I have.

On a personal note, welcome aboard, Cassandra!

Much love,
Mercy

I love paraphernalia

If there’s one thing I truly, unfailingly get off on, it’s a good sex toy. Browsing through places like Babeland, I get excited, literally aroused. In a lot of ways, it’s much better than pornography: I know that I can get what I want, when I want it (give or take the five to seven days for delivery), and it’s all mine. Manufacturers are coming up with more ways to titillate, whether it’s the range of features, ergonomic design, or forms ranging from beautiful to outré.

Steampunk makes things hotter

As vibrators go, they’re a good complement to masturbation, but not the main star when it comes to my preferred way to orgasm: via g-spot stimulation. That’s not a con, especially since they come in so many vibrant colors and sensuous shapes, more so than the average dildo. It’s really hard not to fall in love with looks alone. I’ve seen and owned a lot of sexy looking paraphernalia, but I’ve never seen one that was so steampunk. I found the Eroscillator while on a mission to feed a burgeoning fetish for stocking porn. (Tip o’ the hat to Dungeon Place, which is where I found a review.) In true steampunk style, the Eroscillator has about a dozen attachments, a brushed-brass look—all it’s lacking are the superficial rivets to really drive the theme home—and a beautifully engineered motor.

What’s not to love?

Why is there no Steampunk Porn?

Victorian sexual repression and fetishism mixed with Edisonade machines is an incredibly heady notion. Clockwork automaton sex slaves, or torturous, endlessly reciprocating dildos. The possibilities are infinite. And I’m not alone (or completely crazy) in thinking there’s something hot about steampunk:

“There is a certain romance to any sufficiently outdated technology. Clockwork has a visceralness [sic] to it. It is hopelessly analogue in a digital world. It is obsolete excellence. The idea that Charles Babbage’s difference engine really could perform along side a modern Cray supercomputer is strangely sexy.”

— ClockworkGrue on e2

As attractive as the notion seems, there was no porn, and no erotica to be found in an evening’s search. That doesn’t mean it’s not out there, but I’m having a hell of a time finding any. I found more steam- and cyberpunk art searching for porn and sex toys than anything else. (There was all of one “sex toy”. If anyone knows of any, I’d love a link.) There were some very erotic shots by photographer Allan Amato at Steampunk Boudoir Porn. Jake von Slatt from The Steampunk Workshop has some sexier projects going on. Even though they’re not sex toys, he does have the Complete Mechanical Womb—and a lovely tale of it’s creator, the first fictional intersex character I’ve ever encountered. For a budding steampunk gun-fetishist, enamoring rayguns: Dr. Grordborts Infallible Aether Oscillators.

Steampunk is ripe for erotic modification, giving us a new genre of porn.

I signed up for an Utterz account a while back, thinking it’d be easier to just call in and talk to myself. I’ve only just now gotten around to it, mostly because I’ve been running this episode with a friend through my head over and over. So instead of over-filling my friends’ ears with it, I’ve shared it with the whole world. Yay for technology.

I have to say, this is a pretty fabulous service, and a lot of fun. How often will I use it? Not sure, since I’m not the most social of people. But then again, I could see myself getting hooked. Time will tell.

I almost always find fumbling replies to my flirtations totally charming. My fumblings and stupidity I find incredibly embarrassing, though. Odd, that. Feeling stupid over someone (and showing it!) is quite possibly one of the worst things about crushes. In any case, that’s not what this post is really about. Merely an observation. So, on to the meat.

Years ago, I’d started writing a series of erotica-science fiction short stories, posting them here and there online. They weren’t quite cohesive, but they followed a kind of plotless story line. My idea lately has been to clean them up and post them on my blog, or in a separate section. One of the complaints that I had about them, though, were that they didn’t fit cleanly into a certain genre. While all of them had a scifi setting, not all of them were erotica. Reading over them, though, I don’t see an easy way of making each “chapter” erotic. I do have plans to rewrite the story line, and this time, include an actual plot. When I’d started them–and I’d called them the Valse stories–I’d no plans to make them other than a series, loosely collected.

Abandoning the stories completely isn’t really an option. I have this need to get them out there, to resist the death of a character I’ve created, and even come to love. So. I’ve been toying with the idea of rewriting most of them, plucking out random scenes to fit the story. I’m certainly a more descriptive writer than I was at the age of twenty. But which direction should I go, erotica or scifi? My inclination is to let it develop at it will, but what think you?

Tags: erotica, writing, fiction, scifi

Crap. I signed up for a new account at Twitter.com; almost unintentionally. Sort of. I sign up for a lot of stuff, just to check it out and then forget all about it until I have to unsubscribe from the service’s mailing list. So I have a new rule this year, a resolution, if you will: If I can’t have the username “Mercy” or “Jenna”, I don’t sign up. I didn’t expect it to be available on Twitter, but it was. So here I am, stuck with a potentially addictive service.

What does Twitter do? It seems so simple and lame: you text message or IM the answer to the question, “What are you doing now?” The first thing I had to ask myself was, who cares what I’m doing? The answer to that question is: no-one. So I have free rein to “post” whatever I like, no matter how jejune, without it mucking up my blog. I also get to add friends and whatnot, so I can see what they are doing. That’s the addictive part: I can indulge my obsession with frivolous ephemera. And add my own. Neat, eh?

Since I first started using WordPress I’ve been idly thinking about writing a plugin. I didn’t have any great ideas that hadn’t been done before, nor anything I really needed; I just wanted to learn. The other day I decided I wanted to alter the plugin that runs my orgasm chart (Pasi Matilainen’s Simple Graph plugin) and add a few more functions. I hadn’t realized there was more than just coding in PHP when it came to creating them. Now I know better, and while I haven’t modified Pasi’s plugin (okay, I did, and I screwed it up: I had a backup, though), I started writing a brand new baby plugin of my own. Right now it doesn’t do anything except write to the database and generate random text for testing. But that’s all good, I didn’t expect to write one in ten minutes. Besides the WP Codex, I was able to pick it up rather quickly from blog.forret.com’s new online WordPress Plugin Generator. It’s the first beta version, but there are additional plans in the works for more functionality. I’ll probably have figured it out by then, but I wanted to get it out here in case anyone else is thinking about writing a WP plugin. The generator’s been a great help learning the basics for authoring WP plugins to someone like me: an amateur code hacker.

For a number of years, I’ve hung out in an IRC channel, SexNet.org‘s #cyber-lovers. It was a small channel, populated by dedicated chatters who are easy-going, drama-free (for the most part), and of course, unrepentant perverts. Last week, the channel’s founder, Brooke, told me she was closing it down. It kind of sucks, but her main reason for doing so is undeniable: #cyber-lovers is dying. One of the things I liked best about the channel was that we were all kind of a collection of people who Brooke thought were cool–she had impeccable taste. Smart, erudite, accepting chatters. If you haven’t hung out much in adult-oriented channels (chat rooms), you’d be surprised at how puritanical many people are. Add that to all of the stupid vices–jockeying for “power”, he-said-she-said crap, jealousy, immaturity, and so on–and you have a seething cauldron of, well, stupidity.

The loss of a channel away from mainstream moronics would be incredibly saddening, but Brooke’s planning on using another room as a gathering hole: #bifemsex. Which is great, seeing as how I’m bi, a female, and like sex. The name doesn’t exclude anyone, however; I wouldn’t hang out there if it did. A number of “girl” channels have sprung up that exclude guys with friendly topics like, “* No males and no male girls, 18+ only — Do not PM without consent or be banned –”. Misandry: so lovely. Having a penis (or being caught with one, for “posers”) will get you kicked and banned from the room. More stupidity. I get it, some women want to be able to role-play with each other and don’t want to be importuned by horny men. But some of these channels are little more than male-bashing cliques whose main form of role-play is hunting down men pretending to be women. Not my thing. Cybersex, virtual sex, dirty talk: that’s my thing.

Now that I’ve vituperated a number of other chatters and their lame habits, I’m going to shamelessly promote #bifemsex: we’ve got the goods! All joking aside, though, if you are or were a regular in #cyber-lovers but didn’t get a memo or e-mail about the channel closing, here’s the skinny: #Cyber-lovers is closing. I was offered the channel, but declined. I don’t care where I hang out so much as who I hang out with. Someone else might take the channel up, though. The channel’s website is going down, too. #Bifemsex will have a new URL and site. If you registered at the old one and want to transfer membership and/or photos over to the new one, tell me and I’ll make it so. If you aren’t a member, never were, but are interested, you are welcome to check the channel out. We don’t care if you’re a straight male who hates sex, we just like chatting. Particularly about sex, cybersex, sexuality, anything that gets us aroused or intellectually stimulated. The room’s barely populated at the moment, but I figure that’ll change soon enough.

Anyway, if you just want to take a quick peek and/or you don’t have a chat client application, a very basic java client is here. Have fun!

One great thing about spam these days is the randomly generated text in the subject lines and bodies. In a hack from the book Mind Performance Hacks, author Ron Hale-Evans suggests seeding your creativity with random words and images, or anything at all, to break your mind out of its rut. Spammers spin out interesting, haphazard tales in an effort to fool the bayesian filters so popular these days. I use the SpamBayes plugin for Outlook, and rather than deleting the junk, it goes in its own special folder. I get a ton of spam daily, increasing my chances of getting some mail with rather intriguing subjects lines. Sometimes a whole “story” is generated. Reading through them is a surreal experience. It’s like listening to the babble of a demented, drunken poet. Which suits my creative needs perfectly.

Here’s a good example from the subject line of some spam I received today: “tube blow someone”. Eager to discover a new fellatio technique, I ran a quick search on Google. No luck. How about a tube blowjob? Nope. I did, however, find some rather interesting cocktails (pun intended) called, you guessed it, “Blowjobs“. There’s a fascinating variation called “Wrigley’s Doublemint Blowjob” and another “Blowjob” that curdles when the ingredients mix, purportedly creating an uncanny likeness in texture and appearance to a man’s cum. How awesome is that?

Just a little sample of what spammers can do for you. Isn’t it about time they gave something back to the community?
